Short codes

Short codes, also known as short numbers, are easy to remember 4-digit or 5-digit numbers used to address SMS messages from mobile phones.

Short codes offer users a most comfortable way to answer a call to action. They are widely deployed to increase user engagement in mobile campaigns such as mobile marketing, participative print, radio, and television media concepts, mobile loyalty programs and other CRM activities. Moreover, repetitive usage of mobile services and readiness to accept follow-up offerings increase once the users memorize the service's short code.

Short codes also reduce barriers in responding to promotional offers and hence support impulsive buying in content marketing and m-commerce. They are frequently used as a direct response channel for young target groups and appear in related promotional media such as print ads, TV and radio commercials, outdoor advertising, and fliers.
